About Hometown NP
We started with a simple belief: everyone deserves access to compassionate, expert psychiatric care — regardless of where they live.
Our Mission
Hometown NP was founded by board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioners who saw firsthand how the mental health crisis in America was being worsened by barriers to access: provider shortages, long wait times, geographic isolation, stigma, and cost.
Telehealth changes this. By delivering psychiatric care through secure video appointments, we can reach patients in rural communities, small towns, and underserved areas that have historically been overlooked by the traditional healthcare system.
Today, Hometown NP serves patients in 40+ states with a growing team of board-certified PMHNPs who share our commitment to excellence, evidence-based care, and genuine compassion.

Our Values
Compassionate, Person-Centered Care
We see the whole person, not just a diagnosis. Every patient brings a unique story, and we take the time to listen, understand, and develop treatment plans that reflect their individual goals and circumstances.
Evidence-Based Practice
Our PMHNPs practice at the forefront of psychiatric nursing, using the most current, peer-reviewed evidence to guide diagnosis and treatment decisions. We don't follow trends — we follow the science.
Accessibility and Equity
Mental health care should not be a privilege. We are committed to serving patients in underserved communities, accepting most major insurance plans, and offering affordable self-pay rates for those without coverage.
Transparency and Trust
We believe patients deserve honest, clear communication about their diagnosis, treatment options, and the evidence supporting each recommendation. Informed patients are empowered patients.
Safety and Ethics
We comply fully with all state licensing requirements, DEA regulations for controlled substance prescribing, HIPAA privacy standards, and the standards of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners.
What is a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP)?
Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioners are advanced practice registered nurses (APRNs) who have completed specialized graduate-level education in psychiatric assessment, psychopharmacology, and mental health treatment. In most states, PMHNPs practice independently — meaning they can diagnose mental health conditions and prescribe medications without physician supervision.
To become board certified (PMHNP-BC), providers must complete a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) or Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) with a specialization in psychiatric mental health, accumulate supervised clinical hours, and pass the national PMHNP certification examination administered by the ANCC (American Nurses Credentialing Center).
Research consistently shows that PMHNP care is safe, effective, and often preferred by patients compared to other models of psychiatric care — particularly for accessibility, continuity of care, and the therapeutic relationship.
